Failed at Living Frugally this Paycheck… I’ll Try Again Next Time!

As I said yesterday, I needed to get some things today that I either didn’t know I needed, forgot I needed, or left off my list.  So my $82 grocery trip turned into $126 for the week.  I spent $44 today.  I am officially over budget.  I’m okay with that!  This is the first time I have even somewhat stuck to it (I have the budgeting chart to prove it).  I’m proud of myself!

This is what I bought today:

  • Rolled oats
  • Slivered almonds
  • Pecan pieces
  • Julio’s salsa
  • HEB roasted garlic hummus
  • HEB Texas Pecan (decaf)
  • 1 dozen eggs
  • Broccoli
  • Tomatoes
  • Bell peppers
  • Yellow onions
  • Cucumbers
  • Avocados
  • Celery

I bought these things from Vitacost (to make Elderberry syrup).  This cost went towards my health and wellness budget.

I also bought 4 bags of sucanat (I use it in all my baking and I was trying to make the order total $50 so I didn’t have to pay shipping!  Haha).

I ended up ordering Honest Company even though I said I wasn’t going to… I bought some cleaning products, facial towelettes, and gummy vitamins for all 3 kids.  The cleaning products and facial towelettes went toward groceries and vitamins went towards health and wellness.

I also ordered some body wash/shampoo, kids wash, and conditioner from Vitacost (that I haven’t received yet).  This was $32 (including tax and shipping).  When I receive it, I’ll share what I bought!

kinda went over budget.  But.  I won’t be buying Honest Company next pay check, stuff to make Elderberry Syrup, sucanat, body wash/shampoo, conditioner, kids wash, or vitamins and fish oil.  So the next paycheck I can budget less because I have less to buy.  That’s $157 that I won’t be spending (that’s not all grocery budget, but also health and wellness).  Next paycheck, it will be a breeze to stick to the budget!
